You’re Thinking About Hiring an Interior Designer.
Thoughtful answers to the questions we hear most from prospective clients.
-
We talk about a lot more than furniture and paint colors. We want to know what a typical day looks like in your home, how you spend time together, what you love about your current spaces, and what isn't working.
Between our conversations, questionnaires, and time spent in your home, we learn quite a bit about your family and how you live. You'd be surprised how often something mentioned in passing ends up influencing a design decision!
-
A lot of our clients have great taste! They know what they like and genuinely enjoy beautiful interiors. But having a good eye and knowing how to pull an entire home together are two different things.
There's a lot to consider beyond how something looks, from getting proportions right to understanding materials, construction, and how everything works together. You can still love design without wanting to spend your free time researching furniture, comparing fabrics, or managing all the details.
-
You'll absolutely have a say in your home, but you won't be responsible for managing the process.
We'll spend time getting to know you and your preferences upfront, then take the lead on the design and all the details that follow. You'll be involved at key points, like reviewing the design and approving purchases, while we handle the work happening in between.
Our full-service clients typically have a lot on their plates already, so the experience is designed to take things off yours.
-
Then we'll talk about it! We don't expect you to love every single thing simply because we've selected it.
That said, we put a great deal of thought into what we present, and there's a reason behind every recommendation. Sometimes a piece might feel a little unexpected on its own, but it makes complete sense when you see how it relates to the rest of the space.
Part of our job is listening to your feedback, and another part is helping you understand why we've made certain recommendations. We'll work through those conversations together so the finished home feels right for you.
-
That depends on the size of your home, how many spaces we're furnishing, and the quality and level of customization you're looking for.
Something we often see homeowners underestimate is just how many pieces go into a finished space. A living room isn't only a sofa, chairs, and a coffee table. We may also be sourcing rugs, lighting, window treatments, artwork, occasional furniture, and accessories.
We prefer to discuss investment expectations early, before anyone spends time planning a project that isn't financially realistic. We'll talk about what you're hoping to accomplish and whether your anticipated budget supports it. Design fees are separate from furnishings and other project expenses.
-
Nope! That's all part of Full-Service Design.
Once selections and purchases are approved, we manage ordering, vendor communication, shipment tracking, receiving, and installation coordination.
Furniture doesn't always arrive in perfect condition, and lead times don't always go according to plan. When those things happen, we’re the ones communicating with vendors, addressing issues, and figuring out the next steps.
Your furniture is also delivered to a receiving warehouse rather than arriving at your front door in dozens of separate shipments. You can thank us later.
-
For a furnishings-only project, it's reasonable to plan for approximately 6–12 months from the start of design through final installation. Smaller projects may move faster, while larger homes and renovations typically require more time.
The timeline depends on the number of rooms, the complexity of the design, how quickly decisions are approved, and the lead times for furniture and custom pieces. Material availability, shipping delays, and contractor schedules can also affect the schedule.
Once we've established the scope of your project, we'll be able to give you a more accurate timeline so you know what to expect before we get started.

We tend to work best with homeowners who appreciate beautiful interiors, care about quality, and want their home to feel thoughtfully put together, but don't necessarily want to be the ones making every design decision.
Our clients are comfortable giving us creative direction and trusting our professional judgment, even when we introduce ideas they may not have considered themselves.
If you're looking for someone to take the lead, pay attention to the details, and care about how your home functions for your family and hosting loved ones, we'd love to hear more about your project.
